Why I wander

I’m Andrew (or ARF) and I’ve been a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Freemason since 1997. I’m a member of various Masonic Orders and an organist who has a habit of turning up wherever there is a meeting, an instrument and decent company.

A diary about the people as much as the meetings.

I started sharing my travels because Freemasonry is often described from the outside in vague and formal language. The actual version is much more human: friendship, service, nervous first visits, proud moments, questionable meals and people who will happily travel across the county to support one another.

I belong to Units in the Craft, Royal Arch, Mark, Rose Croix and Red Cross of Constantine, with Athelstan and RAM to follow. I am also a Masonic organist. I try my best, as most Lodges believe that some music is better than no music – I think that’s a compliment.

This site brings those threads together. It is written by me, in my opinion, informally and with affection. It will never publish ritual, confidential business or anything that should remain inside a private meeting.
