Why I wander

I’m a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Freemason, a member of several Masonic Orders and the organist who has a habit of turning up wherever there is a meeting, an instrument and decent company.

A diary about the people as much as the meetings.

I started sharing my travels because Freemasonry is often described from the outside in formal language. The lived version is much more human: friendship, service, nervous first visits, proud moments, questionable dinners and people who will happily cross the county to support one another.

I belong to units in the Craft, Royal Arch, Mark, Rose Croix and Red Cross of Constantine, with Athelstan to follow. I am also known as a Masonic organist—sometimes because of the music, sometimes because I was the only person sitting near the keys.

This site brings those threads together. It is written in the first person, informally and with affection. It will never publish ritual, confidential business or anything that should remain inside a private meeting.
